RESCUE RAPPELLING

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

  • This is an entry level class for beginners and more experienced rope rescue personnel.
  • Taking this class gives rescuers more time rappelling and practicing techniques while hanging on rope. This class is a 20 Hour Class.
  • Class begins with a thorough equipment familiarization and safety lecture
  • Subsequent days include “hands-on” practice.
  • Students will gain knowledge in knots used for rescue rappelling, anchoring techniques, belay techniques, self-rescue techniques (getting out of a jam), assisted rappelling and rappelling Pick-Off techniques.
  • Students may want to bring an ATV in order to get to some of the bluff sites that are 3 miles into the back-country, be willing to walk long distances when attending class here on Signal Mountain, Tennessee.
  • 20 Hours (1/2 day and then 2 more 8 hour days)
  • Cost: $350.00 each  (Lodging free as always @ Signal Mtn., TN. site)
  • 4% mark-up for credit card payment

PRE-REQUISITES:

 Must be physically capable of walking up and down steep mountainous terrain with rope gear, food and water. (No Pre-Courses) 

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:

 A confirmation letter will be e-mailed or mailed to the student which will include information concerning lodging, directions and what students should bring to class. 

CERTIFICATIONS:

 A Certificate of completion from, Mountain Rope Safety Courses
